It's Kickboxing Day

No Time Like the Present

Hillary Healy is a 2019 National Challenge finalist and member at Farrell’s White Bear, Minnesota. Hillary’s transformational journey is incredibly inspiring, and we are honored to have her as part of our Farrell’s family. Congratulations, Hillary!

Ready for Change

You know the story. Tired, working wife; mother of three kids under 10. No time for herself. Always eating what’s convenient on-the-run, or what her kids will agree to. She gives everything she has to her family, kids, job, and friends. No time to get healthy or work out. She was doomed to be unhealthy and develop the same heart disease that she could inherit from both her mother and father. She has way too much to do and can’t let anyone down. Maybe when the kids are older, she tells herself. Maybe when life calms down.

I could make a list a mile long with all the excuses that I used for myself. The fact is, I was tired. I was exhausted, depressed, and unable to take care of myself at 33. I could not walk the stairs without getting winded. If I couldn’t take care of myself, how was I supposed to be an effective mother? Life will never calm down. I could not wait any longer to start living my life.

The Farrell’s Accountability

I joined Farrell’s in January of 2018, fed up with what I’d done to myself and ready to change. I was ready to invest in myself. To become better for my children. A fire was lit inside me. Everyday, I became stronger, faster, and lighter. My Level 10 increased with every class I took! I made friends in those sweat-filled hours spent in the gym. We went to battle together every day against those bags and bands! It would be impossible not to forge friendships in those conditions.

When I finished my first 10-Week Challenge, I was 25 pounds lighter and lowered my body fat percentage by 27%! I was energized. I wanted to continue, but I was worried without the competition of the 10-Week Challenge, I’d fall off the meal plan wagon and revert to yo-yo dieting, leaving me right back where I started.

I couldn’t do this alone – I needed a coach to help keep me accountable. I joined the $10,000 National Challenge. I continued to work hard, push myself, and kept seeing great results! The regular meetings and measurements with my coach made it easier to stay on track. I still allowed myself the occasional cheat meal – after all, when your four-year-old daughter hands you a cookie with a smile on her face, you eat that cookie!

Without the amazing community at Farrell’s, I couldn’t have kept going for this long. Everyone is so positive and encouraging. If you’re struggling, they have modifications and helpful tips. And when things are going great, they encourage you with high-fives and are your biggest cheerleaders.

I gave the National Challenge everything that I had. When I finished, I lost 64 pounds, 69.5% body fat, and 46.25 inches!

I’m so glad that I started this journey at Farrell’s. The National Challenge may be over, but my journey isn’t! I began this journey for a better life. Now, I’m now more capable to handle a busy life with my kids. My husband and I can teach our children that it’s essential to take care of yourself and to be active. I’ve shown them that fitness is an important part of a happy life.

Farrell’s taught me that there’s no time like the present to start working on yourself. Everyone that walks in is on the same journey as you. We can all do this together! I look forward to being a member of the Farrell’s family for years to come.
